Please read the following pre-requisites/course guidelines carefully before you embark on this journey through the Quran.

Consistency

  • It is very important to be consistent in order to learn the religion of ALLAH.
  • The Prophet SAWS mentions in a Hadith “The most beloved action to Allah’s Apostle was that which is done continuously and regularly” (Sahih Bukhari)

Punctuality

  • Whether you are attending the class on campus or on-line, it is important to be punctual.
  • You should give knowledge the respect that is due.

Notes

  • To make the most of this course it is important to take notes with respective date and lecture number.
  • Also write down your anecdotes i.e. tasoorat as and when needed. Keep a journal of "Gems" of what you have learnt to keep yourself motivated.

Hifz

  • Become true students of Quran. Memorize the 30th Juz.

Respect the teacher

  • Respect your teachers time and effort.
  • Remember that your actual teacher is the Prophet SAWS.
  • A few examples as to what it means are as follows
    1. Imam Malik - A scorpion bit him 6-7 times while he was teaching Hadith but he continued untill the class was over out of respect and his utter regard to the prophet SAWS hadith, before the scorpion was removed.
    2. Imam Muzni, who was a student of Imam shafa'i, didn’t even to dare drink water in his teacher's presence.
    3. Imam Shafa'i, whose teacher was Imam Maalik, would turn the pages of books so slow in his teachers presence, so that there would not be any sound.
  • A student can learn more from a teacher, as compared to books as s/he is walking taking book.

The best time to learn lesson

  • Is early morning, i.e. after salat al Fajr, then afternoon and then in the evening (Al Khateeb Baghdadi)

Ignore the teacher’s flaws

  • As s/he is human , consider and appreciate what s/he is teaching and make dua in this regard.

Practise what you learn

  • Put to practice what you learn immediately.
  • Umar Ibn al-Khattab (RA) asked Kaab (RA) 'Who are the people of knowledge?' He replied, 'Those who put to practice what they learn'.

Homework

  • Make sure to do the homework on time to truly benefit the course being taught.
